Unforgettable Nice…

nice

We went to Nice on a city break just before Christmas and found it quite expensive but very romantic. The beach was out of bounds for us as it was a little chilly, but it looked like it would be the ideal place to relax (and pose!!) on a hot sunny day. We took the mini train tour around the city to make sure we saw the main features and it was then we really discovered what a beautiful place it is. Narrow winding streets and pretty houses with window boxes full of colour, pavement cafes and roads lined with palm trees make you just want to up sticks and move there straight away!! The Promenade de Anglais is the most popular area, although expensive to eat and drink it really is worth stopping a while and soaking up the atmosphere.

Even the hustle and bustle of tourist life here seems to go into slow motion, life is so laid back and stress free, and the wonderful French accent fills the air like soft music. (see - it even makes you write romantically) We also nipped over to Monte Carlo (my fella is a bit of a grand prix nut) and although I wasn’t really that impressed, he thought it was fantastic so while he dreampt about Lewis Hamilton I wondered if  Prince Rainier had ever brought Princess Grace here on a date!! The highlight really had to be on our last night though as we sipped champagne on the Promenade de Anglais and watched the sun set, my wonderful fella popped the question!!!!!! “Can we come back next year for the grand prix!!!!” Oh well I can always live in hope …

A little sad but ever hopeful…..Natasha, Trowbridge.
